San Francisco

Erste Eindrücke aus San Francisco,  bunt, laut und ein wenig überwältigend.

Unsere Reise geht weiter. Gestern Nachmittag sind wir in San Francisco angekommen und natürlich wollte ich noch ein wenig von der Stadt sehen, bevor der Tag zu Ende ging.

Unser Hotel liegt in der Nähe von Pier 39, dort, wo sich die Touristen aus aller Welt tummeln. Alles ist  auf Weihnachten eingestimmt. Es leuchtet, blinkt und funkelt in grellen Farben.

Nach der stillen Üppigkeit des Regenwaldes wirkt das auf uns fast ein wenig überdreht.

Die vielen Geschäfte locken mit einem bunten, manchmal auch etwas schrillen Angebot.  Ein deutlicher Kontrast zu Costa Rica.

Den Abend lassen wir im Crab House ausklingen.

Müde, aber neugierig auf das, was vor uns liegt, sitzen wir beisammen und schauen hinaus auf das geschäftige Treiben. 

 

First impressions of San Francisco

Our journey continues. Yesterday afternoon we arrived in San Francisco and couldn’t resist taking a short walk despite the long day. Our hotel is located near Pier 39, one of the city’s busiest and most touristy areas.

Everything is already dressed up for Christmas. Lights, colors and blinking decorations everywhere. After the quiet intensity of the rainforest, this felt loud and almost overwhelming, yet fascinating in its own way.

Shops, music and people from all over the world fill the area with energy. We ended the evening at the Crab House, watching the lively scene and slowly arriving in this new place. A colorful, vibrant start to the next chapter of our journey.
